Amethyst Frost Druzy

$40

Amethyst crystal is a fascinating variety of quartz that features beautiful shades of purple, from light lavender to deep violet. The ancient Greeks and Romans held a strong belief that Amethyst could prevent intoxication, and therefore made jewelry and chalices with that intention. Amethyst is most prevalent as small, stubby pyramidal crystals, although several localities are well-known for producing elegantly tall, prismatic crystals, which are very highly regarded by collectors. Amethyst also forms the internal lining of geodes, some of which can be over 10 feet tall and weigh several tons.

Amethyst is a semiprecious gemstone and the traditional birthstone for February. It is composed of silicon dioxide. The purple color is caused by the presence of iron and other trace elements in the crystal lattice. The intensity of the purple color can vary depending on the amount of iron present in the crystal. It can be found in a variety of locations around the world, including Brazil, Uruguay, Madagascar, Zambia, and Russia. Each location can produce amethyst with unique color variations and characteristics, making each piece of amethyst truly one-of-a-kind.

Natural stones can change appearance in different lighting, making photography challenging. You should expect some variation between what you see in the pictures and the piece you receive.
